Adam Davis is 18-years-old Adventure photographer, creator and explorer. I hope you’ll enjoy the interview;
How did you fall in love with photography?
I fell in love with photography from traveling as a kid with my family. I got to see these amazing places and soon figured out that documenting them is my passion.
How important is having a unique style as a photographer? How would you describe your style?
I’d say to have your own unique style is one of the most important things in being a successful photographer. It shows people who you are and how you see the world.
Where did you grow up? How have your roots influenced your sense of style?
I grew up in Iowa, United States. My hometown was surrounded by corn fields, so when I first started photography, that’s what I mostly shot. I realized that I didn’t want to be that stereotypical Iowan photographer (although there’s nothing wrong with that). I guess my roots just made me discover landscape photography and how to find beauty everywhere.
What advice would you give to aspiring photographers out there?
My biggest piece of advice would be to just go for it! Get out and shoot! You don’t have to have the newest camera with all the bells and whistles that can shoot 4k video and shoot lasers (that would be cool though). If you want to get better, don’t make excuses.
Have you ever run out of ideas?
Just like any other creative, I run out of ideas. I think that when I do, or become unmotivated, it is important to take a break to get back on your feet. During these times, I also go to youtube, Instagram, or even OUTSIDE for inspiration.
How do you find places and models for your shootings?
To find places and models, I usually look on social media. It is a great way to meet people and find out the best locations to shoot at. For landscape photography, I don’t need to use many models, but for my brand work, models are a necessity.
What’s the one piece of photo gear you couldn’t live without?
I think the most obvious choice would be my camera. But I couldn’t live without my Nikon 50mm f1.8. It’s a work horse and I bring it on every shoot.
Do you edit your photos? If yes, which programs do you use?
Yes I do edit my photos. I mostly use Adobe Lightroom as well as Photoshop to edit.
We would like to express our gratitude to Adam Davis for this great interview.
