Billy Brayshaw is a model and actor from Manchester & London. I hope you’ll enjoy the interview;
How did you fall in love with modeling?
I consider myself quite a creative person, and as far as modelling goes I feel it’s as much a creative process as photography. I love how you can create different moods with shapes, angles and looks. I’m very expressive so it’s the perfect industry for me.
How were you discovered?
After coming home from travelling for a few years, I began really focussing on my passion for acting. After a few meetings with a few agencies, one agent suggested I also joined thier modelling books.
What’s one of the most interesting shoots that you’ve done?
I really love the creative shoots, and any opportunity to do something a little unique / artistic and different. One creative shoot I worked on was for a look-book. I had cold water poured on me for about two hours. But the shots were great so it was worth it.
How would you define your personal style?
Quirky, expressive and personal.
Where did you grow up? How have your roots influenced your sense of style?
I grew up in a really small town in the countryside, where style was very limited! So I suppose it influenced me in the way of wanting to break out, find my own style and express myself – this came naturally when I moved to the City.
Who is your style icon and why?
David Bowie. He is artistic, expressive and has a British glamour that inspires me.
Who is your favorite photographer and why?
I love Terry Richardson – his rawness and how he captures his subjects. I love him.
What advice would you give to aspiring models out there?
Keep focussed. It’s not all glamour, do your homework and try not to be nieve.
Do you edit your own photos? If yes, which programs do you use?
I use Lightroom and Photoshop occasionally.
