Cynthia Tran is a beautiful model from Rochester, NY. I hope you’ll enjoy the interview;
How did you fall in love with modeling?
So when I was younger, my cousins and I would watch America’s Next Top Model and I remember thinking, “That’s gonna be me someday!” As I got older, I started modeling and it took me all over the world. I’ve been able to travel and meet all kinds of people because of it.
How were you discovered?
So my friends and I were singing Karaoke at the local bowling alley. It was senior night and we were the people our age there but we were having so much fun just singing. Then I was approached by a lady that used to be a model scout and she told me I had a great look and personality and should find an agent. That was pretty much the thing that started it all.
What’s one of the most interesting shoots that you’ve done?
So we shot a military themed shoot with this old-school Humvee, the engine didn’t work but it still looked super cool. The funniest part was that it was at a gas station, so we had a whole crowd of people taking pictures and videos while I was shooting. It was still a cool experience and we got some really good pictures!
How would you define your personal style?
My personal style is a mix of different styles. Miami and New York definitely have influences in my styles. Sometimes I like to go out and wear a nice dress and heels, sometimes I just like to wear joggers and sneakers. I feel like I have a mix between an urban and beachy vibe.
Where did you grow up? How have your roots influenced your sense of style?
I grew up in Rochester, NY. It’s kind of a smaller city compared to Miami & NYC but I lived five minutes from the mall so I went shopping a lot more than I should, basically every day lol. I didn’t repeat an outfit until February my freshman year of high school.
Who is your style icon and why?
My style icon would have to be the Kardashians/Jenners. Some people hate on them but I personally love their tastes in styles and they all have something unique about the way they dress.
Who is your favorite photographer and why?
I don’t have a favorite photographer but I like Ohrangutang and Gregorio Campos styles of photography. For photographers I’ve worked with Renaud Lucas, George Siroki and Jamey Allen always do a great job. I love their styles of photography.
What advice would you give to aspiring models out there?
Just go for it. Get someone to get some good pictures of you and practice taking pictures. Once you’ve gotten comfortable in front of the camera, find a good photographer and have them take pictures of you, even if you might have to pay a little. It’s hard to start out, but it’s been beyond worth it for me.
Do you edit your own photos? If yes, which programs do you use?
Occasionally I use PhotoShop and Lightroom.
We would like to express our gratitude to Cynthia Tran for this great interview.
