How did you fall in love with photography?
Creating has always been a passion of mine, and being able to implement fashion and emotion into an image is why I fell in love.
How important is having a unique style as a photographer? How would you describe your style?
Setting yourself apart from the rest of the photography world is essential if you want to be successful. I want someone to see my work and immediately know I created it. I would describe my style as moody rock and roll. I love to portray a “too cool for you” vibe in all my images.
Where did you grow up? How have your roots influenced your sense of style?
I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah! I grew up in a very creative home where there was never a moment without music. Everyone sings, draws, paints, plays multiple instruments, designs, etc. Being surrounded by rock and roll and my Mama’s love for fashion is really how I was able to implement the two and find my photography style.
What advice would you give to aspiring photographers out there?
Try not compare yourself to others, be true to yourself, and don’t let Instagram followers/likes show you your worth or quality as an artist. I have to tell myself that every day. Even the most successful photographers second guess and compare. Block out the thoughts and keep pushing yourself.
Have you ever run out of ideas?
All the time. Creative ruts happen!
How do you find places and models for your shootings?
I scout areas for upcoming shoots by driving around. There are also apps that can help with photography locations if you’re desperate! For models, I have scoured Instagram, looked at modeling agencies, and have scouted the streets! My life really just consists of constantly looking for places and faces.
What’s the one piece of photo gear you couldn’t live without?
I think it would be my Sigma 35mm lens.
Do you edit your photos? If yes, which programs do you use?
Yes, I edit like crazy! I use Lightroom and Photoshop
