Erik is a successful photographer from Victorville, CA. I hope you’ll enjoy the interview;

How did you fall in love with photography?

Staring a blog with my partner almost 2 years ago I began teaching myself about photography and realized that it’s something I love doing. It’s been an everyday hobby since then 🙏🏻🤘🏼

How important is having a unique style as a photographer? How would you describe your style?

It’s very important. Nowadays there are thousands of photographers out there trying to make a name for themselves so if you’re not standing out you’re just blending in. My goal is to have someone just glance at a photo of mine and know right away that it’s my photography. I guess I don’t really have a name for my style yet but I love shooting in low-controlled light. Props are also my best friends 🙂 anything from smoke bombs, mirrors, fairy lights, confetti, and just about anything else I can get my hands on.

Where did you grow up? How have your roots influenced your sense of style?

I grew up in the small town of Victorville, CA. To be honest I’m not sure how that town has shaped me to who I am today but glad I was able to grow up in a such a small community of people who were all just tryin to figure out how to make a big stamp on the world around us.

What advice would you give to aspiring photographers out there?

Keep shooting! Everyday. Always bring your camera with you even if it’s just to step outside and grab the mail. You never know when that perfect sunset will be for your next Instagram post 😉

Have you ever run out of ideas?

Always. That’s why I find it important to find photographers who inspire you for Jose days where you can figure out exactly what you want to do.

How do you find places and models for your shootings?

Instagram. If I find a model I like I’ll just reach out via DM or email and try and set something up. As far as locations, I just drive around until I see something inspiring 🙂

What’s the one piece of photo gear you couldn’t live without?

My Fuji film x100f. It’s perfect for everyday shooting without having to carry my bulky Canon.

Do you edit your photos? If yes, which programs do you use?

Yes. I use photoshop, Lightroom, and sometimes Affinity

We would like to express our gratitude to Erik for this great interview.
