Kanoe Pelfrey is a model from Hawaii who really loves surfing.

How did you fall in love with modeling?
My surfing sponsors had me do shoots modeling with my surfboard and from there just loved modeling!
How were you discovered?
Back home in Hawaii when I was 13 years old. I got out of the water from surfing and an agent approached me wanting to know if I had modeled. They invited me to join their agency that represents models everywhere from LA, Tokyo, Sydney and Milan. I couldn’t say no because it looked like fun and I wanted to do it!
What’s one of the most interesting shoots that you’ve done?
A underwater photoshoot swimming with dolphins.
How would you define your personal style?
Surfer girl
Where did you grow up? How have your roots influenced your sense of style?
Kona, Hawaii. My roots have influenced my style greatly. I live in a bikini most of the time, love denim shorts, slippas, tank tops and sweaters/hoodies during winter.
Who is your style icon and why?
Farrah Fawcett! I love all of her looks from swimsuits to tops and jeans.
Who is your favorite photographer and why?
John Koman, very gifted photographer who knows lighting extremely well, easy to work with, gives great direction and understands how to get a model to dig deep for those expressions that make people remember an advertisement!
What advice would you give to aspiring models out there?
Find an agency that is the right fit for you! It’s hard to find an agent that is going to really support you when times get tough. In this world that is all the time. Have an agent that is all for helping you reach your dreams and will work with you towards your goals! Keep going to castings, staying active and being determined! Have a great diet, exercise every day and make your body your number one priority. All of this will lead to a successful career of landing jobs, walking down runways, getting to travel more and being able to make an income off of what you love to do!
Do you edit your own photos? If yes, which programs do you use?
Sometimes I do. I actually use Instagram filters a lot and crop/adjust position of photos most of the time for my feed. VSCO cam is a great app I use for editing my photos as well!
