Kristina Jovanovic is a super model from Canada. I hope you’ll enjoy the interview;
How did you fall in love with modeling?
I had always wanted to be a model, I remember as a teenager cutting out model ads from the newspaper and then putting it on the fridge. It was always just brushed off until I was 19 years old and a photographer friend needed a model for a paid gig (since his previously booked model bailed). I jumped to the opportunity and have loved it since.
How were you discovered?
Well, I just went on a rant in the last question. But to make a long story short, my friend (a photographer) had a photo shoot booked for a tshirt company. The model he had booked for this shoot bailed and he needed an emergency last minute model – he called me. Though, I was scouted a few times as a teenager.
What’s one of the most interesting shoots that you’ve done?
Hmmmm that’s a tough one. I did a shoot in an underground Korean karaoke bar in Montreal, and the entire shoot was shot on film. I also shot in really dirty water in Florida where crocodiles live, that was interesting because anytime someone saw movement in the water id run out. Definitely a few b
How would you define your personal style?
I wouldn’t say that I have one personal style. I’m constantly growing and learning and exploring new styles. I think that’s how you find what works for you – trying everything. Right now I’m really into retro style shots.
Where did you grow up? How have your roots influenced your sense of style?
I grew up in a Stoney Creek, ON and in no way has where I lived influences my sense of style.
Who is your style icon and why?
I think I pull inspiration from a collection of people. Not one person in particular – mostly the people I follow on Instagram.
Who is your favorite photographer and why?
There are soooo many favourites. I have favourites that I’ve worked with and favourites that I haven’t worked with (that I’d love to work with). The fav photographers that I’ve worked with are my favourites because they are respectful, communicate well, and produce beautiful photos. The photographers that I admire on Instagram are my favourites because they produce beautiful work, and from what I understand are nice people.
What advice would you give to aspiring models out there?
Trust your gut, if something feels off about someone – believe it. Ask for references from photographers.
Do you edit your own photos? If yes, which programs do you use?
I don’t edit my photos.
