Lili Backman is a beautiful model from Washington.
I hope you’ll enjoy the interview;
How did you fall in love with modeling?
My boyfriend had picked up photography as a hobby so I pretty much became his muse and fell in love with it!
How were you discovered?
Through Instagram/ social media
What’s one of the most interesting shoots that you’ve done?
The most interesting shoot that I’ve done was when I had to shoot on a beach when it was 40 degrees out, raining, and the water was at (almost) freezing temperatures. It was probably one of the most challenging shoots I’ve ever done also.
How would you define your personal style?
Simple, but bold and sexy.
Where did you grow up? How have your roots influenced your sense of style?
I grew up in Washington State, from a small town called Olympia. Even though it wasn’t a very big town there were a lot of very talented people and it was like a melting pot of different cultures. Being exposed to those different people and cultures has definitely helped shape me.
Who is your style icon and why?
My style icon would have to be Jhene Aiko. She is my style icon because she has such a versatile look that is also simple kind of like myself. And that’s something that I think is also important when it comes to having style. It’s shiek, stylish, sexy, high fashion, sporty, and cute all in one her outfits never cease to fail me and she pulls it all off really well.
Who is your favorite photographer and why?
My favorite photographer is Brendan Forbes. He is my favorite photographer because all of his shots are just breathtakingly beautiful. They all have the right tones, edits, backdrops, muses, makeup. Everything that is put into each photo you can tell was purposely put together for that photo and I just love the way he captures his images.
What advice would you give to aspiring models out there?
Don’t be insecure, and work hard in the right place. Being insecure will only make you go downhill and people can see right through it. Also, work hard for what you want but work hard in the right direction so that you don’t get stuck I n a hamster wheel working hard but not going anywhere.
Do you edit your own photos? If yes, which programs do you use?
The only photos I edit myself are my selfies that I take with my phone, and for those I use VSCO and PicsArt.
We would like to express our gratitude to Lili Backman for this great interview.
