Nina Lisa is a German curve model who lives in London. I hope you’ll enjoy the interview;
How did you fall in love with modeling?
I loved looking at magazine covers as a young girl and always imagined myself on them. I also graduated in arts and always had a passion for photography:)
How were you discovered?
I was scouted when I was 14, but my parents didn’t allow me to model at that time. So one day I looked up photographers in vogue and called them until I found one that would do a test shoot with me. With those images I went to a small agency in Munich, but was soon scouted by an English agency. On a job in Milan fashion week my agency in New York saw me too and it all went from there
What’s one of the most interesting shoots that you’ve done?
I shot with Ashley Graham in Mexico, but because I was traveling with my dad in New York and the job came on short notice I had to bring him with me. He of course has no idea of fashion and sat at lunch talking to Ashley graham for hours having no idea that he is talking to a famous model. She was so nice and the whole job was an amazing experience.
How would you define your personal style?
I love to invest in classics and always go for the feminine, boho style
Where did you grow up? How have your roots influenced your sense of style?
I grew up in Munich, Germany. Everyone was always really stylish and proper and had put in a lot of thought into their outfit. It inspired me to experiment and learn what suits me best.
Who is your style icon and why?
Kate Moss: nobody has the laid back, effortless chic like her
Who is your favorite photographer and why?
Kristian Schuller: he creates art like a surrealist painter
What advice would you give to aspiring models out there?
Enjoy it and try not to overthink it! You will always have to deal with rejection, but that is part of the job and not you as a person. Be nice to everyone and be patient! There are long days of traveling and lots of waiting at castings 🙂
Do you edit your own photos? If yes, which programs do you use?
I use VSCO cam. I like their filters, which bring out the contrasts in the images
