Rachel McCord is a model, entrepreneur, investor, author and a speaker on Vogue & Forbes. I hope you’ll enjoy the interview;
How did you fall in love with modeling?
I love supporting brands and entrepreneurs, and modeling + helping with syndication does that at scale.
How were you discovered?
I was 13, and someone approached me for a shoot. =)
What’s one of the most interesting shoots that you’ve done?
I loved doing the shoot for Napa Valley Vintners, because we hosted a fabulous event with my network of fellow talent, celebs, bloggers, influencers, etc. We did a shoot that was captured by paparazzi, and ended up going viral worldwide.
How would you define your personal style?
I love comfy glam. Whether I am attending the Globes or a brunch, my clothes have to be comfortable. I don’t mind a little pain for some fab shoes though!
Where did you grow up? How have your roots influenced your sense of style?
I grew up in trailer parks in Georgia. I think coming from humble beginnings without a budget for fashion allowed me to get creative. I still do that now! I love pairing vintage, consignment, Goodwill pieces with my designer staples. I find the BEST things at these spots. I mean, imagine what gets handed down in Hollywood…it’s BEYOND! =)
Who is your style icon and why?
Iris. I love that Queen. She is timeless and a vision. I also love Rachel Zoe and, of course, Anna Wintour…because she’s a QUEEN!
Who is your favorite photographer and why?
Malachi Banales. He is BEYOND! I also LOVE Kent.LA. They are both incredibly talented!
What advice would you give to aspiring models out there?
To believe in yourself, focus on building your self confidence FIRST, go for your dreams, and think outside the box. It is MUCH more fun to produce and model in a shoot, because you get to be a BOSS…while you also look like the Queen you are. So go for it, honey!!!
Do you edit your own photos? If yes, which programs do you use?
Never. I embrace my flaws. Every photographer I shoot with edits their shots in Photoshop, but if it’s just a shoot I do on my iPhone or with my team, I own the issues and make fun of them in the captions.
We would like to express our gratitude to Rachel McCord for this great interview.
