Sebastian Sauve is a great model from Detroit who lives in Berlin. I hope you’ll enjoy the interview;
How did you fall in love with modeling?
Chance. It certainly was not love at first sight but once I found my groove it became a lot of fun
How were you discovered?
Chance encounter on a gap year in 2007. They tried to recruit me then but i said no, went to university and then go into in 2 years later to get my gf to stop bugging me
What’s one of the most interesting shoots that you’ve done?
This is always the most difficult question. Last week i was a ken doll with 3 barbies and we slowly turn into real people in the video. 1 time i was 3d scanned for 6 hours to make a figurine and later a larger then life statue. You name it I’ve shot it ^^
How would you define your personal style?
Groovy slick and comfortable
Where did you grow up? How have your roots influenced your sense of style?
87′ to 97′ in Detroit then 17 years in England pretty much and the last 8 years on the road. Now I’m in Berlin and indeed a Berliner/Detroiter 😉
My moms been mixing house music and electronic for 40 years she’s from Berlin, hitchhikes to Goa for 7 years. Met ky dad there and moved to Detroit where the House/techno scene began. Yeah, my roots and style is the mo-town funky stuff!
Who is your style icon and why?
My mom 🙂
And Paolo Roldan. Best dressed model in the world no doubt.
Who is your favorite photographer and why?
Helmut Newton. So fresh but instant classics.
What advice would you give to aspiring models out there?
Unless your that 0.01% of models that it really comes naturally too it’s not worth the hassle.
In todays climate, for male models especially, there’s hardly a market and the pay is 98% less then it was 10 years ago. So don’t do it for the money. And don’t ‘need’ this job. Needing it adds a certain look in your eyes and that look doesn’t sell clothes…
Do you edit your own photos? If yes, which programs do you use?
Nah. Not so much. Not enough time in the world
We would like to express our gratitude to Sebastian Sauve for this great interview.
