Shyllon Silva Melatti is a great model from Vegas. I hope you’ll enjoy the interview;
How did you fall in love with modeling?
My mom and grandfather used to model in Brazil so when I was a kid, my mom became both mine and my sister’s manager and got us into acting and modeling and my passion grew throughout the years. It was an outlet to express my creative side while also making money doing something I really enjoyed.
How were you discovered?
My mom submitted me to local agencies in Las Vegas and I was signed to several as a kid. By the time I was in college I signed exclusively with TNG Models, who became my mother agency.
What’s one of the most interesting shoots that you’ve done?
I just recently shot a wedding shoot with a few camels, which even got the attention of a local news channel. These animals are massive!
How would you define your personal style?
I’m a mix of edgy, hip, urban, street. Let’s just say ASOS, Topman & Zara are my go-to for trendsetting.
Where did you grow up? How have your roots influenced your sense of style?
I grew up in Vegas but my entire family is from Brazil so I had both cultures growing up. I think this really helped in introducing me to different types of styles and mentalities. I also grew up with very creative people which shaped my sense of style.
Who is your style icon and why?
I like intricate pieces and I’ve met some extraordinary stylists from Vegas that have been personally iconic to me, such as Whitney Vertucci, Katy Mahon & Rei Vallejo. They’re style is not only trendsetting but it pushes the boundaries of fashion. They’re iconic in their own respects, and I fuck with that.
Who is your favorite photographer and why?
Raen Badua, Wong Sim, Jeremy Gudac, Sam Ramirez, Stevan Reyes, Alyssa Risley. They’re pros at capturing the moment at its perfection and their edits are so aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Each photo is like, “God damn!”
What advice would you give to aspiring models out there?
Don’t give up and don’t take shit personally. For every 20 no’s you’ll get 1 yes, but it’s that 1 yes that counts and it can make all the difference.
Do you edit your own photos? If yes, which programs do you use?
I fluctuate between Lightroom and Photoshop but I have found VSCO and even Instagram to be extremely helpful.
We would like to express our gratitude to Shyllon Silva Melatti for this great interview.
