Taylor Jaelyn is a beautiful model based in Oregon. She is also an animal lover & advocate. I hope you’ll enjoy the interview;
How did you fall in love with modeling?
Actually I was scouted, then I started meeting really awesome people who even became friends. Now I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world, the opportunity to meet so many like minds is just the best.
How were you discovered?
First I was scouted by a Ford Model scout at the Oregon State fair. I decided it would be best to start small and local, which is how I met my current agency. They’re awesome.
What’s one of the most interesting shoots that you’ve done?
One of the most interesting shoots I’ve done was actually my first shoot ever. I was just SO nervous beforehand, and this was before I was signed. We made some pretty cool photos for a first shoot. The photographer made me feel right at home, even though I was nervous. It’s interesting to me just because of how different I was back then, compared to now.
How would you define your personal style?
My personal style is ever-changing. Sometimes I’m a jeans and tee girl, and other times I’ll have a super boho look going on. Personal style to me is just everyday looks, AND the color pink!
Where did you grow up? How have your roots influenced your sense of style?
I grew up in Eugene Oregon. I think living here has given me a more optimistic view on everything, the people here are really out there and bold. Most importantly, I describe here as my little happy place, small or not. It’s definitely made my personal style lean towards a more boho, breezy look, and I think if you were to describe with clothes Eugene that’s the kind of outfit you’d see.
Who is your style icon and why?
Gisele Bundchen, no matter how unoriginal that is I love her. Also, Audrey Hepburn. They’re my style icons because they give me confidence. I have an odder face, it’s almost a combination of the two in a really weird way. So being able to have someone like that to look up to, someone who’s own personal style is AWESOME, really just keeps me going at it.
Who is your favorite photographer and why?
My favorite photographer is actually local. His name is Kade Thomas. I really just like his work and feel like we connect pretty well. I’m not always the most outgoing person so it’s nice to have some down to earth shooting time.
What advice would you give to aspiring models out there?
KEEP AT IT! No matter what, you’ll get there if you put your heart to it. There are SO many different boards and it’s just a matter of time before you get your own face on one. Just practice practice practice. Practice flowing, expression, everything. Flowing is very important so you want to have a set of poses you can fall back onto if all else fails.
Do you edit your own photos? If yes, which programs do you use?
Sometimes I do, I actually use Lightroom or gimp. Just depends on how I’m feeling that day.
