@xplore__ is Melbourne based traveler and photographer whose style is mainly moody and quite fresh – with orange and teal tones – at the same time.
I hope you’ll enjoy the interview;
How did you fall in love with photography?
I started doing photography as a subject when I was in high school and wanted to give people a different perspective on their everyday lives. Photography for me gives me a way of escaping from the day to day life, a way to relax or even vent. Its become a part of who I am and can not imagine a life without it!
How important is having a unique style as a photographer? How would you describe your style?
I think it is very important to have your own unique style of photography! It is very easy to get caught up in all the Instagram hype of posting what people want to see, but shoot what you want to shoot post what you want to post and develop from there. I’d describe my style as moody but also quite fresh with orange and teal tones!
Where did you grow up? How have your roots influenced your sense of style?
I grew up on the outskirts of the city (Melbourne, Australia). This definitely influenced my sense of style as I would always be walking through and around the city being fascinated by all the huge buildings and interesting people even before I picked up a camera.
What advice would you give to aspiring photographers out there?
You know the old saying practice makes perfect…? Well that is a very good way to put it in photography. The only way you’re going to imporve is by going out and shooting. Go out in the rain, in the sun, just go out and shoot whenever you have a chance!
Have you ever run out of ideas?
Of course! Everyone has a creative blank once in a while! All photographers go through it.
How do you find places and for your shootings?
Usually just walking around and being aware of my surroundings! Sometimes I use Google Earth which is pretty handy!
What’s the one piece of photo gear you couldn’t live without?
Probably my 24-70mm lens! It’s just such a versatile and useful lens suitable to any occasion.
Do you edit your photos? If yes, which programs do you use?
I sure do! Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop!
